The Gift of Gratitude

Gratitude

Like a lot of 2020, the holidays are going to look a little different this year. Many of us will be celebrating through virtual screens instead of around the table with each other. So while it may be harder than usual to focus on the positive, we invite you to unlock the power of gratitude this holiday season. Research shows that gratitude can relieve stress, improve sleep, enhance relationships, increase well-being, and boost happiness, among many other benefits. We asked a few of our Inseus Team Members to share how they plug into gratitude and we encourage you to give one (or a few of these!) a try:

Amanda Ryznar | Inseus Mindfulness Teacher

For the past five years, my family and I share what we are grateful for before we go to bed. It's often an opportunity for me to reflect how important my friends and family are to me and to realize that what matters most to me are the people in my life.

Anuka Gazara-Anothy | Inseus Mindfulness Teacher

I take time in my daily practice to thank myself, my body, and my mind for giving me the ability to do this work day in and day out. Taking a moment to acknowledge what you have accomplished is a simple way to practice gratitude and can help ease anxiety and negativity bias.

Ashley Nelson | Inseus Founder & CEO

My favorite gratitude practice is to take a walk outside of my home in Michigan. Enveloped in nature and in silence, I notice the wind or the sunshine on my skin, the birds talking, the fresh smell of pine, and the animals exploring. This reminds me of the awesomeness of our natural world and how grateful I am to be alive.

Caitlin Peterson | Inseus Operations Manager

My favorite gratitude practice is journaling. With all that’s going on in the world right now, it can be so easy to focus on the negative. So making time each day to write about at least one thing I’m grateful for—whether big or small—really helps to shift my mindset. And in moments when I’m having a hard time feeling grateful, it’s nice to be able to look back and remind myself of all the positive things in my life.

Stefanie Harris | Inseus Mindfulness Teacher

I love doing the Three Good Things practice with my family at dinner each night. It is a great way for us to connect and share the goodness of our day with each other. Each of us shares three good things that happened during our day and then we discuss and celebrate what made us happy. Not only is it fun, it has become an important part of dealing with all of the uncertainty and challenges we are all facing today. I solidify the practice each day by journaling what was shared and I encourage my family to do the same!

Victoria Vaz | Inseus Marketing Intern

Sometimes when you are having a really rough day or week, it is easy to lose sight of what really matters and recognize your blessings. For that reason, my favorite gratitude practice is simply writing ten things down that I am grateful for. After, I am reminded of the things that truly matter and the initial problem seems smaller almost immediately!

From all of us at Inseus, we hope you have a peaceful and relaxing Thanksgiving, however you may be celebrating.

Warmly,
The Inseus Team

Ashley Nelson
