Change Your Relationship with Stress.
Shift from Autopilot to Awareness. Expand Perspective. Decrease Reactivity. Make Wiser Choices.
Our expert-led Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses teach the principles, scientific foundation, and mixed modality practice of mindfulness. Our courses are an intensive, experiential exploration of mindfulness as a way of life.
MBSR transforms lives on both a personal and professional level. Data shows that mindfulness-based stress reduction decreases stress levels, improves physiological and emotional health, and enhances the ability to thrive in all aspects of life.
Through dedicated and integrated practices, participants learn to expand perspective, reframe their relationship with stress, reduce reactivity and conditional responses, and connect with intention, insight and conscious response. Individuals learn to cope more effectively with life’s challenges—big and small—whether they’re related to work, life, health, or personal relationships.
How MBSR works
The MBSR curriculum was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center more than 40 years ago. Originally employed in medical settings to help patients decrease stress, manage pain and cope better, research shows that eight weeks of MBSR training can rewire our neural networks—inviting greater control over the brain regions connected to conditional response, emotional reactivity, and fear. MBSR reduces cortisol levels, increases cognition and memory, improves immune system and heart health, and is used to treat both anxiety and depression. Today, MBSR is practiced world-wide in a variety of settings, supporting people on their journey to a healthier, more resilient life. The Inseus MBSR Program includes:
Eight weeks of in-person or virtual classes, facilitated by 1-2 Inseus certified MBSR teachers. Classes are 2.5 hours long and feature a combination of dedicated mindfulness practice time, didactic instruction, and group insight discussions.
A private library of curated MBSR practices is available to students to support their home practice journey. Daily Home Practice Daily is an integral part of the MBSR Program, as it serves as the foundation for learning and group discussions during class.
An All-Day Mindfulness Retreat, in order to continue the immersion, learning, and insight. Hosted at a retreat site surrounded by nature, participants will explore new mindfulness practices in a safe, nourishing environment with fellow MBSR students and practitioners. The All Day Retreat typically takes place on a Saturday between Class 6 and Class 7, and is a cherished, special experience.
Inseus teachers are trained and certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. They have completed training at one of the following programs: UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness, Brown University Mindfulness Center, or UMass Memorial Center for Mindfulness.
